Be Sure Of Your Target And What is Behind It

Be sure of your target and what is behind it. Let's provide a practical example for this one. You come home from work, toss your keys on the counter, and there in the living room you see a bad guy. He's a big scarry dude and he's got a gun. So, you do what you've been trained to do, you draw your weapon. You are in the right. He is in your home, uninvited and he is a threat to you. You put two beautiful shots into the center of his thoracic cavity, and he goes down. But before you shot did you take a look at your surroundings? Did you notice that behind the bad guy was a member of your family? Did your shots over penetrate and hit them? What about to the left of the bad guy? Did you notice the family pet, or another member of your family? You are morally, legally, and civilly responsible for every bullet that comes out of that gun. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.
