The Dozier Drill

The Dozier drill is a shooting drill inspired by the 1981 real life kidnapping of General James Dozier. Five kidnappers posing as plumbers knocked on the door of the General. Dozier did not have a side arm to protect himself. Colonel Jeff Cooper, founder of Gunsite Academy in Arizona, developed the drill to help shooters discover if they could get out of situations similar to that which General Dozier faced. The shooter stands with their hands at their side and loaded pistol in their holster on the tone the shooter engages five targets with a single shot.
