Treat All Guns As If They Were Loaded

Updated: Jan 31, 2022

Whenever you approach a gun, you treat it as it is loaded. You don't pull the trigger on a gun without inspecting it first, and you don't point it at yourself or anyone else. It doesn't matter if you just emptied the gun, or you watched somebody else empty the gun. You treat every gun as if it's loaded. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger. Remove the magazine. Make sure there are no rounds and make sure there is nothing in the magazine well. Pull back the slide and make sure there are no rounds in the chamber. Even though you know there are no rounds in the chamber, keep the gun pointed in a safe direction and keep your finger off the trigger. And, whenever the weapon goes out of your hand, you start the process all over again...check the magazine, check the chamber and make sure the weapon is not loaded.
