What is a tactical pen?

A tactical pen is a writing utensil that is seemingly innocent looking. However, it can be a great secondary or tertiary self-defense weapon. Often made of lightweight aluminum, a tactical pen is very sturdy. Typically, they will have a flat space to place the thumb of your dominant hand, and a pointy space where the ink cartridge comes out. They are not intended as primary use, but as a last-ditch option for self-defense. Sadly, TSA has put tactical pens on the no-fly list. They can travel in your checked baggage, but not your carry-on. In addition to self-defense and actual writing, some tactical pens, come with additional features like a flashlight.
